In association with UNESCO and other outstanding partners, the Goi Peace Foundation is organizing an Essay Contest for Young People. This is an important opportunity for young people from all over the world to express themselves by writing an essay on current issues such as culture of peace, media and communication or sustainable development.
Contest Topic: ‘My Role in Creating a Peaceful World.’ Participants will express themselves on this theme. What is your vision of a peaceful and harmonious world? What can you and the young people of the world do to realize that vision?
Eligibility: To participate in the 11th edition of the Contest people up to 25 years of age can submit their essays in one of the following categories: children (ages up to 14) and youth (ages 15 – 25).
Essays must be received by 30 June 2010.

2. FOLK DANCE WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN – Mumbai (Via Chintan)
Summer is here and the NCPA is happy to present a Folk Dance Workshop for kids.
Registrations are just open. Limited seats available. Do hurry and enroll any young folk you know! It promises to be fun.
Folk Dances of India
Children’s Workshop by Kalyanni Vrajesh
(Dandiya and Rajasthani Folk Dance)
West 1June 1st to 6th ; 5 – 6.30 PM
This is a fun summer workshop that offers a basic introduction to the folk dances of India, with a basic orientation into two forms: Dandiya and Rajasthani.
Kalyanni Vrajesh is a young performer, choreographer, researcher and teacher of Bharata Natyam and Indian folk styles. She holds an M.F.A degree in Bharata Natyam from Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya, affiliated to the Mumbai University. She has had advanced training in the folk dances of India from renowned folk dance expert Indumati Lele. She has performed at many prestigious festivals and events and judged various university and school zonal level competitions.
There will be an informal workshop presentation for parents and interested viewers on Sunday, 6 June, at 11.30 AM.

3. SENSING RHYTHM AND MOVEMENT IN NATURE AND ART – Bangalore (Via Chintan)
In the ambiance of wilderness and silence , the 5 day long Workshop explores sensing and understanding Rhythm as a unifying principle in the Performing Arts , Fine Art and Nature. The sessions will include long walks in the Valley, sketching, painting, pottery, music, body movements and silence. The intent is to sensitize to rhythm in Art and also as an integral part of life. Since it is a process of self enquiry and awareness, to make it a meaningful experience we have limited the number of participants to 10. There are facilities for accommodation and food for those who would like to make it a Residential Retreat programme.Dates: June 8th to 13th 2010
