A Guide to Setting up an Open Library in Schools

Chintan had earlier written about a library in Bangalore he had visited at the Center for Learning and also introduced us all to a wonderful handbook called “Shall I Give You a Good Book? A Book for Amateur Book Activists which he discovered on a trip to Varanasi. The book is an excellent resource for people who want to start community libraries in villages and small towns, or hold book exhibitions to create awareness about the vast amount of reading material that is available, or even run small bookshops.

Chintan has now sent us a guide to setting up an open library in Government high schools in Karnataka written by Usha Mukunda.

Usha occasionally blogs at: http://library.cfl.in/

Update:

Chintan and Usha have sent us one more book – The Open Library.

The book was brought out to coincide with a conference hosted at Centre for Learning, Bangalore, in December 2006. It was called Educating for a Sane Society.  The Conference site is: http://conference.cfl.in/index.php
