The Warli tribe – a community from Maharashtra – are wonderful artists, covering the brown mud walls of their homes with paintings in white pigment. The simple yet incredibly dynamic figures of Warli painting tell stories of village life, myth and legend. They are like fluid pictograms, rendered in a way that children can relate to immediately. This workshop engages children actively with Warli art – the art form and the people who paint in this style, village life, how to look at paintings, and finally, how to come up with their own pictures in the Warli style.
