“My Respect for Every Single Writer and Illustrator Just Doubled” – Vedavathi Narasimha Murthy on the #6FrameStoryChallenge

Little did we know that in the process of building this pool of illustrations for our open source story platform, we would already have kiddos helping us in an unknown way. Yesterday we shared a post about an illustrator who worked with her young daughter on the #6FrameStoryChallenge. Today, we have another mother whose daughter had some hand in helping her mother along. Three cheers for all the kiddos (known and unknown) who’ve been an inspiration for us to build this platform and for helping along the way!
When Vedavathi Narasimha Murthy sent us her story, she said : “The story of the brave grasshopper could very well be compared to what I went through in the
process of creating. No matter what difficulty lies ahead, the grasshopper teaches its young
ones to stay positive and think of the good things ahead. While it was a lot of fun, it was
extremely challenging and a satisfying experience and a start to a path that I always doubted. I
was extremely happy that my 8 Year old daughter loved every frame of my story. If she finds it
colourful and exciting, I am hoping other children might enjoy it too!”

“It has always been my dream to illustrate for a children’s book but never knew where to start. One needs a story. I have only weaved stories to my child. She always asked me why don’t you write this and illustrate. But I was doubtful if I could put my story on paper. With Pratham Books giving such a great opportunity to all illustrators, I thought I should give it a try. Selecting 6 words from the wish list really got me thinking. No words just illustrations! That’s exactly what I wanted! All I have been doing from the past few days is think about the story and how I can illustrate it. My respect for every single writer and illustrator just doubled in this process. Kudos to the entire team of Pratham Books for putting forth such a wonderful idea and hoping every child gets to read and dream big!”

(Vedavathi Narasimha Murthy is a Mixed Media Artist. She likes to work with watercolours and acrylics as well. She has a Master’s Degree in Microbiology and from the time it dawned to her that she can draw, she hasn’t stopped. She is currently pursuing a degree in Graphic Design.
