This submission comes from the seventh graders at Riverside school who got into action after hearing about the lack of resources in rural schools. After a brainstorming session, they decided to make bottle holders and books from recycled materials. The project grew and went on to involve the entire school in the production process.

Today, Pratham Books creates books suited to both print and digital mediums in multiple languages. We are looking for an Associate Art Director to help us create visually appealing picture books with a strong understanding of how each of these mediums work.
As an Associate Art Director, you will be responsible for the design and production of books created for both print and digital mediums. As most of our titles are migrated to StoryWeaver, we are looking for someone who is tech-savvy and eager to find ways of minimising loss between print and digital book design. This will require you to work closely with our editorial team and external content creators we collaborate with (illustrators, consultant art directors). The Junior Software Tester is expected to work on key projects across all verticals. We are looking for a results-driven Software Tester to be responsible for designing and running tests on software usability. They will conduct tests, analyse the results, and report observations to the Quality Assurance Manager. They will also interact with associated internal team(s) within Pratham Books to understand the requirements of the product.
To be successful as a Software Tester, the candidate should have a working knowledge of software and test design, the capability to run through tests, and the ability to analyse the results. In this role, you will be responsible for providing requirements for new features for the collection of data, executing data validation checks, ensuring data integrity, using statistical techniques to analyse and interpret data, taking complete ownership of Google Analytics, identifying trends and providing insightful reports to internal and external audiences.

About the project:
The extended school closures in Maharashtra due to the pandemic is exacerbating the learning crisis with the potential for higher dropout rates. In order to address support continuity of learning with a focus on promoting development of language and literacy skills amongst children in Maharashtra, and those most impacted by the pandemic, we will be deploying the following interventions
— Build capacity of ~1300 teachers of grades 1-2 to help support the read at home initiative who will also receive a printed guidebook for the same

Pratham Books is looking for a creative person to take on the work of a deputy editor. The position involves reading and review of new manuscripts, editing chosen manuscripts, managing the workflow with authors, designers and illustrators, working with the translation and design team, proofing copy at the layout and print stage, writing copy for blurbs, catalogues and promotional events. The assistant will have to be involved in making the books ready for print and also adapting it for digital media (StoryWeaver, audio-visual, etc). The deputy editor will also need to coordinate with the administrative team for documentation, records and payments. We expect this person to bring in new ideas to create interesting books in Indian languages for children, especially those children who may be first-generation school-goers. Currently, we’re looking for a full-time Editor to join our team in Bangalore or Delhi.
Required Skill-set

Experience
At least 8-10 years in an editorial position would be good. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in children’s publishing or with children.
Location
This is a full-time position, in our Bangalore or Delhi office.
Compensation
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Budget for this position is 8-12 lakhs per annum

In 14 years, we have published over 3,000 books and distributed over 14 million copies of our storybooks and 16 million story cards. In 2015, Pratham Books’ increased its footprint by going digital. As an industry leader, we were one of the first publishers in the country to open license our content. All this content is now available on StoryWeaver, our digital platform that hosts stories in 60 languages. The stories can be read, translated, versioned or downloaded for free.
Job Description
Today, Pratham Books creates books suited to both print and digital mediums in multiple languages. We are looking for an Assistant Art Director to help us create visually appealing picture books with a strong understanding of how each of these mediums work.
As an Assistant Art Director, you will be responsible for the design and production of books created for both print and digital. As most of our titles are migrated to StoryWeaver, we are looking for someone who is tech-savvy and eager to find ways of minimising loss between print and digital book design. This will require you to work closely with our editorial team and external content creators we collaborate with (illustrators, consultant art directors). The candidate needs to have excellent graphic design skills and experience in print production.
