A Workshop on Children’s Book Illustration

Via Pencil Jam

If you always thought that illustrating for children was quite simply like any other illustration project, you’re in for a surprise. A baby is an awesome visual cataloging machine and as the child grows, it’s visual vocabulary builds in complexity. Understanding this process allows the illustrator an opportunity to specifically design for children, keeping in mind the age of the child you are drawing for.
The workshop is a 6 hour session with a lecture on visual perception, and how the visual vocabulary is built. You will then learn about building characters that the child can relate to, and weaving in a narrative that binds the story together. By the end of the workshop you will have a clear understanding of the role of colour, form and composition in the narration of children’s stories.
Workshop Charges: Rs. 1, 550/-
Workshop Date: 4th June, 2011.
Timings : 9.30 am to 4.30 pm
Venue: The Pencil Jam studio, Frazer Town, Bangalore.
