The Tall Cranes of Falmouth Shore : David Knight’s Story for the #6FrameStoryChallenge

Looks like many illustrators found out about the #6FrameStoryChallenge quite late but many of the illustrators enjoyed working till the last minute (which was evident by the mails that were pouring into our inbox a few minutes before the deadline). David Knight’s discovery of the challenge was serendipitous and he says ‘It was quite last minute to be honest. I have a story that I have been working on independently and I
saw the challenge posted on an Illustrators Forum I belong to. When I read through
the requirements I noted that quite a few of the words provided in the brief matched the illustrations I
had been making so I entered. Who knows how that story and the set of words might develop!”

David goes on to tell us why he participated in the challenge :

“I signed up for the #6FrameStoryChallenge for several reasons. I enjoy constructing narratives so
choosing words then providing illustrations for them is quite a rudimentary way to get started with a
story. It also means that the story can grow in quite an organic way, especially if the process provides
the possibility of a much broader collaboration, which this does.
I was excited by the prospect of potentially reaching such large audience with my work. I am an
illustrator and my pictures tell a story so the possibility of the illustrations doing what they are intended
to do – ie entertain children is an opportunity I didn’t want to miss.
I also have the purely selfish reason too – that my illustrations might be exposed to a large and
diverse audience which might provide me with more opportunities as an illustrator.
