Readable.in – An online library for the visually impaired

Our vision is to use information technology to ensure that visually impaired persons around the world have access to all the written material that sighted persons have access to.

Readable.in is a joint initiative of the Centre for Internet and Society (http://cis-india.org/) and www.inclusiveplanet.com. The Centre for Internet and Society is a non-profit organization committed to the goals of digital plurality and participation and as part of its activities is in the process of coordinating with several of the leading NGOs and persons with visual impairment who are digitizing and compiling a large number of books and other material in electronic formats that are accessible to the millions of visually impaired persons around the world. It is CIS’ objective that the maximum number of visually impaired persons are able to access such books and other material in electronic formats. www.inclusiveplanet.com is a social enterprise which is creating the world’s largest online community and marketplace for the differently-abled and their support group. Inclusive Planet shall provide web hosting services and web pages to CIS for CIS to extend its reach and communicate its vision and material complied by CIS and its various partner NGOs to those visually impaired persons who register to receive such services from CIS and access the material hosted.
