Looking for Pratham Books Champions for World Read Aloud Day

We are extremely excited to be collaborating with LitWorld to celebrate World Read Aloud Day!

When is World Read Aloud Day? 7th March 2012

From the LitWorld website:
Take Action for Global Literacy, Celebrate the Power of Words, Change the World.
Worldwide at least 793 million people remain illiterate.

Imagine a world where everyone can read…

World Read Aloud Day is about taking action to show the world that the right to read and write belongs to all people. World Read Aloud Day motivates children, teens, and adults worldwide to celebrate the power of words, especially those words that are shared from one person to another, and creates a community of readers advocating for every child’s right to a safe education and access to books and technology.

By raising our voices together on this day we show the world’s children that we support their future: that they have the right to read, to write, and to share their words to change the world.

We are looking for Pratham Books Champions to help celebrate World Read Aloud Day! What do Pratham Books Champions do? They spread the joy of reading and give wings to stories.
For International Girl Child Day and International Year of the Forest, we had many people from different places volunteer to become a champion. You can read about their wonderful experiences here.
It is for World Read Aloud Day (7th March) that we are seeking champions from everywhere to conduct storytelling sessions in their state/ city. How wonderful will it be if we can achieve this: one day, one book, and millions of children enjoying the same book!
Please mail us at web(at)prathambooks(dot)org if you are interested in becoming a Pratham Books Champion.
