Celebrating International Friendship Day – Book Fair Friends and Creative Friends

August 2 is International Friendship Day. We have been around for about 5 years, but on our journey we have made numerous friends who have helped and supported us along the way. Purvi Shah writes about our friends who have helped us organize several bookfairs and our creatively inclined friends who add a dose of sunshine ever-so-often to the work we do.
Every time that i organize a book fair at Texas Instruments, Bangalore, I am overwhelmed. The amount of commitment that the young team has over there is outstanding. Pratham Books is a small team of people and we cannot always afford to have the entire office at the book fair. But, the folks at Texas Instruments always give us volunteers. And what wonderful volunteers! They push their colleagues to buy books for one and all and pledge money to provide underprivileged kids with books too!

And then again, there was one person who browsed all our books, bought nothing and then surprised us by pledging Rs. 5,000 towards books for underprivileged children!

Infosys, on the other hand, in sheer volume. For the first time I experienced what it is like to see about 100 people standing in 3 queues to get our books billed.

And what would the brand team do without creative help from people like Angie, Upesh, Sangeeta, Tony? All of whom have done many creative jobs for us… sometimes free and sometimes for less than peanuts. In their own way they have proved to be great friends of Pratham Books!!!

Thank you all!!!!
