Bookaroo in the City (Day 1) : Surekha Panandiker

Have you ever fallen into the pages of a book and fallen off your chair laughing? Have you ever smelled the earth as you see the picture of rain falling on parched mud? Pratham Books brings you such magic in your world with books! Pratham Books is proud to present “Bookaroo in the City” across several schools in Delhi.

Volunteer Saumya Mani Tripathi writes about the storytelling session with Surekha Panandiker …
My first day with Bookaroo literary fest started at 5.30 am. With the saffron palettes of sun I started on an exciting new event. At first I was a little nervous but the author’s (Surekha Panandiker) amicability completely put me at ease. We reached the MCD school of New Usmaanpur at about 10.30 and the children’s enthusiasm fuelled us. We conducted two sessions that included storytelling, dramatic activities, drawing and an interactive session with the children! It was quite overwhelming to see the children’s delight and glee while they enjoyed the sessions. It was a unique and nostalgic experience with the kids. I was amazed with the levels of creativity and potential they possesed. It was all learning and love. I realized what major roles are played by NGOs such as Pratham Books and Bachpan Society! At the end of the day I slept with the smiles and tokens of love the children and the author gave me indefinitely!!!
