Bob Marley, Dylan, Lennon and the Bornfree Academy


John Devaraj–sculptor, artist, peace activist, architect, photographer, filmmaker, founder of Bornfree School–is releasing his music album ‘Yelli Yeddelli’ (Get Up, Stand Up)on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanthi,April 14, 2010. John has trans-created into Kannada the classic peace songs by great singers like Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, Jose Marti, John Lennon, Pete Seeger and Miriam Makeba. He says he has made an attempt to show the power of song to bring about peace.

The songs will be presented through a contemporary dance performance by the students of Bornfree Dance Academy, with video projections of the original singers. This has been done to create a sense of history and to set the context in which they were made.The album has been produced by the Bornfree Art School. All income from the sales of the CDs (Rs.100 each) will go towards the liberation of working children.
