1. THE SUNFEAST WORLD 10K RUN BANGALORE 2009

The World 10K is back for the second time in Bangalore, after a successful launch last year. The Run is happening on 31st May 2009.ww.bangalorecares.in lists all the NGOs who are part of this event.Please do drop in there, browse through and figure out how you can participate in any way, small or big! 2. INTERNATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMME ON ‘GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT OF NPO’s AND NGO’s’

We are delighted to announce 3rd International Training Programme on “Governance and Management of Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs)/NGOs”, scheduled during 6th July 2009 to 14th August 2009 (Six Weeks). This training programme is being organized by Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), a premier training and academic Institute with international presence. Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India is the nodal Department for fellowship supports and facilitating enrollment process for this training programme. The participants from 156 countries as listed by ITEC/SCAAP http://itec.nic.in/iteccountry.htm, http://itec.nic.in/scaapcountry.htm are not required to bear any training cost including boarding, lodging & travelling expenses and there is a provision of support for out of pocket expense. However, applicants from the countries other than the countries listed by ITEC can join the training programme by bearing the training cost (including boarding & lodging expenses) of $1500/-.

3. JUSTMEANS SOCIAL ENTERPRISE FELLOWSHIP

JustMeans, an online portal for companies interested in social responsibility, is recruiting for a Social Enterprise fellowship in their Pune office. The fellow will cover a variety of tasks:

  • Develop a business strategy for Justmeans expansion into Asia in the first two quarters of 2010
  • Work with one of our partners to launch an annual conference on sustainable development in India
  • Work with our CEO, Martin Smith, to identify and secure founding academic and corporate partners for the launce of Justmeans Asia
  • Develop and scale our research team Work with Ashoka Fellow and COO Kevin Long to develop an appropriate mobile technology strategy for India and beyond

4. PENGUIN AND ORANGE READERS’ GROUP PRIZE

Tell us about how you are making reading social and you could win £1000 plus two tickets to the Orange Prize for Fiction Awards Ceremony on 3rd June 2009.

We want to know a short history of everything; who you are, what you do, when you started, where you meet, how you stimulate discussion, how many people you are talking to and why you love to talk about books. You might have started a group on Facebook, run a book group in your college or maintain a bookish blog – whatever it is that you do to get people talking about reading, we want to know.

And the person who can convince the judges that they’ve done the most to make reading social wins a grand prize… £1000 plus two tickets to the Orange Prize for Fiction Awards Ceremony on 3rd June 2009 (including travel expenses).
