And it begins! One Day, One Story 2018 kicks off in J&K.

This morning’s State Times reports an interactive storytelling and readaloud session for Class III students at Heritage School, in Jammu, by Nikita Arora. Her two sessions mark the first of this year’s campaign to celebrate International Literacy Day: One Day, One Story.

This year’s book is A Cloud of Trash, written by Karanjeet Kaur, and illustrated by Bhavana Vyas Vipparthi. It’s a story about a little girl called Cheekoo, who has a cloud of trash hanging over her head. This makes her very, very unhappy, and as we follow her story, we learn a little more about trash, and about keeping our surroundings clean.

You can download an e-copy of the book in: English, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati, Konkani, Bengali, Odia, Punjabi, Telugu, Sanskrit, and Surjapuri..

We also have a simplified (Reading Level 1) version of the story, as well as a completely wordless story.
