Tibor Jones South Asia Prize

Following the success of the Tibor Jones Pageturner Prize at the 2011 London Book Fair, Tibor Jones & Associates, in association with the Charles Pick Fellowship and the University of East Anglia (UEA) and with support from the British Council, announce the inaugural Tibor Jones South Asia Prize for the best novel by a South Asian writer unrepresented by a literary agent.
The winner will receive 1 Lakh (approximately £1,400) and literary representation by Tibor Jones & Associates, London’s leading literary agency for the post-digital generation. The chair of the judges will be novelist Amit Chaudhuri, Professor of Contemporary Literature at UEA, who will be joined by Arvind Krishna Mehrotra, the poet, translator and critic, Urvashi Butalia, the publisher and author, Jon Cook, Professor of Literature at UEA, and the journalist Amana Fontanella-Khan. The prize will be announced in New Delhi on Wednesday, January 18th, 2012.
Entry is open to any unrepresented South Asian writer with a completed draft of an unpublished novel. The shortlist will be announced on December 15th, 2011. Entrants in the Tibor Jones South Asia Prize will be encouraged to apply for the Charles Pick Fellowship at UEA. The fellowship includes a cash award of £10,000 and six months board on campus at UEA in Norwich, UK. Applications to the CPF should be made by January 20th, 2012.
