Seminar : Illustrating Children’s books in the Folk Art Traditions of India

Via Young India Books

Young India Books and the Kala Ghoda Festival Committee are organising a seminar to highlight the opportunities and challenges in Illustrating Children’s books in the Folk Art Traditions of India.
Our folk arts have been handed down from one artistic generation to another for centuries. It is our proud heritage, one that we need to educate our children about, so that they learn to understand, appreciate and when they are adults in turn support the art and the artists.

What better way to introduce them to the various art forms, be it Madhubani, Warli, Gond and others, than reading books about the art or through illustrations in their books?

At this seminar, experts and practioners will talk about their experiences laying the ground for many more such books to be published in the future.
The seminar is on :
Date: 8th February, 2012
Time: 10 am – 1 pm
Venue: Artisans’ Centre, Near Rhythm House, Kala Ghoda, Fort, Mumbai

Even though, the seminar is open to all, there is limited seating. Please confirm your participation by mailing [email protected]
