Program Coordinator

Location: Gujarat, Rajasthan & Maharashtra
Reporting To: State Program Manager – Implementation
Duration: 1 Year (contract renewable yearly)

Role Summary

The Program Coordinator will work as a support in managing the district-level implementation and processes. The role requires working strong field leadership, government liaison capabilities, operational oversight, team management, and monitoring.

The Coordinator will ensure seamless coordination among government authorities, schools and Anganwadi, Implementation partners, and the project team, while maintaining fidelity to the program design and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

1. District-Level Program Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end implementation across schools and Anganwadi
  • Develop block-wise and school-wise execution plans aligned with project milestones.
  • Ensure program quality, adherence to timelines, and outcome orientation.
  • Conduct regular on-ground visits for monitoring and support.

2. Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and manage relationships with government departments, district officials, SMSA, ICDS systems, NGOs, and other partners.
  • Represent Pratham Books at education events, state/district forums, and partner platforms.
  • Work in close alliance with the identified partner organizations
  • Facilitate necessary approvals, review meetings, and district-level reporting.

3. School Coordination & Field Execution

  • Coordinate with schools and Angawadi across two blocks.
  • Develop and monitor monthly school visit calendars with Field Associates.
  • Track school-level implementation indicators (sessions conducted, teacher engagement, student participation).

4. Training & Capacity Building

  • Coordinate planning and execution of teacher training 
  • Support master trainers and external facilitators in district-level training roll-outs.
  • Ensure training follow-up through structured school visits and observation tools.

5. Team Management

  • Supervise and mentor Field Associates, partners and block-level support staff.
  • Coordinate closely with identified implementation partners and conduct monthly review meetings with the district team.

6. Program Launch & Events

  • Organize district and block-level programs for community engagement and launch events.
  • Coordinate logistics, invitations, government participation, and documentation.
  • Support public visibility efforts aligned with organizational guidelines.

7. Monitoring, Evaluation & Documentation

  • Oversee field-level monitoring visits and share Monthly and Fortnightly reports of field visits
  • Ensure timely and accurate data collection from schools.
  • Conduct structured classroom observations.
  • Support baseline, midline, and endline processes as required.
  • Document field insights, case studies, and impact stories from schools.

8. Operational Oversight

  • Oversee distribution of storybooks and materials to participating schools.
  • Monitor inventory and utilization at school level.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational financial and administrative systems at the district level.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline 
  • Master’s degree in Education, Social Work, Development Studies, or related discipline (optional)
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in managing district-level education or social development projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working with government school systems and Anganwadi
  • Prior experience in programs using storybooks, reading interventions, or narrative-based pedagogy for behaviour or mindset transformation preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage field teams and multi-stakeholder environments.

Location & Language Requirements

  • The role will be based in a specific district across the mentioned states – (Gujarat: Jamnagar, Dwarka, Rajasthan: Pali, Maharashtra: Wardha)
  • Candidates must either reside in these district locations or be willing to relocate.
  • Language proficiency requirements vary by state or location and are essential for effective communication and program implementation.
