Pratham Books is a non-profit organization, dedicated to fostering a love for reading among children by providing high-quality, affordable books in multiple languages and formats. Established in 2004, the organization aims to ensure every child can access enriching and engaging reading material and has the privilege of working with some of India’s best and award-winning authors and illustrators, creating a diverse and vibrant collection of stories that resonate with children from various backgrounds. The content created by Pratham Books is in multiple formats, including print, digital, and audio, making them accessible to a broader audience.

Pratham Books’ notable initiative includes StoryWeaver, the world’s largest open-source digital platform that allows users to read, create, and translate stories. StoryWeaver hosts thousands of stories in multiple languages, enabling educators, parents, and children to access a vast repository of literature for free. This platform also empowers users to contribute their own stories and translations, fostering a global community of storytellers and readers.

To build a library movement in India, Pratham Books hosts the “Donate-a-Book” crowdfunding initiative, which allows individuals and organizations to contribute towards distributing books to underserved communities. This initiative helps bridge the gap between donors and beneficiaries, ensuring that more children can develop a love for reading.

Pratham Books’ extensive network and innovative approaches have significantly impacted the reading ecosystem, reaching millions of children and educators worldwide.

We are looking for an Executive for Donate-a-Book:

We are looking for a dynamic, passionate person who is high on initiative. The candidate will work closely with the Donate-a-Book Manager and will have to coordinate with several other geographically distributed teams within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain fundraiser and donor relations.
  • Outreach to like-minded organisations who would benefit from using the platform to raise funds for their library needs.
  • Collaborate with internal marketing, sales and fundraising teams as the need arises.
  • Measure and report the progress of fundraising campaigns by sharing regular reports.
  • Track the impact of fundraisers once they receive the books
  • Lead generation to help in the growth of Donate-a-Book and create a pipeline or prospects.
  • Identifying new development channels like other crowdfunding platforms, listing channels, etc.

Required skills:

  • 0-1 year of work experience in sales, marketing or crowdfunding
  • Self-driven and cause oriented; at ease with deadlines and targets
  • Possesses excellent communication (written and verbal) and people skills
  • Ability to navigate and optimise digital platforms or the willingness to learn
  • Willingness to travel and meet stakeholders within and outside Bangalore
  • Must be familiar with MS Office
  • Possesses good time management skills and is a team player
  • Proficient in English (Spoken & Written) and Hindi language (Spoken). Any other regional language is an added advantage.

Nice to have but not mandatory:

  • Previous experience of interning/working in a not-for-profit organisation/in a development sector organisation.
  • Prior work experience in the area of donor relations and crowdfunding.

Location:

This is a full-time position based out of Bangalore, Karnataka.

Compensation:

Salary offered will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience
