Rewind. Recap.

The week that was…

Yesterday was International Friendship Day and we had a series of posts to thank the different friends we have made during our journey. You can read about them here, here, here and here. We also received pictures of our CC-licensed content reaching children in Nepal through the OLPC project. In local news, we participated in the bookfair at National Public School, Bangalore and had a blast. We were also happy to learn about Virdhawal Khade’s victory at the International Schwimmfest in Germany. Our book ‘Kolhapur to Beijing – Freestyle’ traces the journey of this young and talented swimmer.

We are also quite excited to about the ‘Design for Giving’ school contest. The contest is part f the Joy of Giving week which is being held from 27th September, 2009 to 3rd October, 2009. Watch some of the videos that explain the reason behind the contest and how to participate in the contest. Also watch how a group of students conducted an art auction to raise funds for an organization called Prabhat. So, spread the word around and get your friends /children/ students to participate in this contest.

Another contest being conducted is a video contest for 9-25 year olds on the topic of migration.

Book related news included cute gardener bookmarks, an audiobook of Nelson Mandela’s favourite African folktales and Harvard University Press’s plans to publish content on Scribd.

We leave you with the inspirational story of Capucine – a young girl in France who is trying to raise money for a library in Mangolia.
