Pratham Books (www.prathambooks.org) is a not-for-profit children’s book publisher that was set up in 2004 to publish good quality, affordable books in many Indian languages. Our mission is to see ‘a book in every child’s hand’ and we have spread the joy of reading to millions of children in India. As a publisher serving every child in India, Pratham Books has always pushed the boundaries when it comes to exploring innovative ways in which to create access to joyful stories and have been fortunate in finding partners to collaborate with who share this vision.

In 2015, Pratham Books’ increased its footprint by going digital and launching StoryWeaver. StoryWeaver (www.storyweaver.org.in) aims at enabling book security at scale, by pioneering a new, inclusive approach to book creation and distribution. StoryWeaver provides open access to multilingual storybooks that can be read online, offline or downloaded & printed for non-digital environments.

About StoryWeaver

StoryWeaver is Pratham Books’ open digital platform that enables anyone, anywhere to create, translate, adapt, and access multilingual children’s stories. With thousands of stories across hundreds of languages, StoryWeaver is building a global ecosystem committed to equitable access to reading and learning resources.

StoryWeaver is India’s first Digital Public Good (DPG) for Foundational Literacy and Early Grade Reading. It was first recognized by the Digital Public Goods Alliance in 2020 and has subsequently retained its Digital Public Good status through periodic reviews.

As StoryWeaver evolves from a platform built for communities to one increasingly shaped and sustained by communities, we are seeking a leader who can strengthen partnerships, deepen engagement, drive adoption, and help shape the platform’s future.

Role Overview

This person will lead the growth and evolution of the StoryWeaver ecosystem by building strategic partnerships, supporting communities of users and contributors, driving platform adoption, generating insights that inform product development, and strengthening StoryWeaver’s position within the global open knowledge and multilingual literacy landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grow StoryWeaver’s ecosystem of partners, contributors, and users to advance its mission of expanding access to multilingual reading resources.
  • Oversee the day-to-day functioning of StoryWeaver, ensuring smooth coordination across partnerships, community initiatives, platform activities, campaigns, reporting, and internal & external stakeholders.
  • Build strategic relationships with NGOs, Governments, educational institutions, language organisations, universities, library networks, and other ecosystem actors.
  • Drive adoption and meaningful use of StoryWeaver through partnerships, community engagement, and collaborative initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for co-creation, language scaling, language preservation, and ecosystem growth.
  • Cultivate and support communities of translators, educators, authors, illustrators, reading champions, and other contributors, helping strengthen community participation and leadership.
  • Bring user, partner, and community insights into program, product and platform discussions, helping shape future priorities and improvements.
  • Monitor platform, partnership, community, and programme metrics to assess performance, identify opportunities, and inform decision-making.
  • Generate and share evidence, stories, and insights through case studies, presentations, reports, and other knowledge products.
  • Support fundraising efforts through donor engagement, proposal development and reporting.
  • Manage budgets associated with StoryWeaver initiatives and partnerships, ensuring effective planning and utilization of resources.
  • Represent StoryWeaver externally and contribute to its positioning as a leading platform for multilingual stories, open knowledge, and community-driven access to reading.
  • Work with the COO to shape the long-term strategic direction, sustainability, and growth of the StoryWeaver ecosystem.

Qualifications

  • 8 – 12 years of relevant experience in ecosystem building, partnerships, platform growth, community engagement, education, digital products, social impact, or related fields.
  • Strong partnership, community building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience working across multiple teams and functions.
  • Ability to translate user and community insights into strategic recommendations.
  • Comfort working in evolving and ambiguous environments.
  • Interest in literacy, language diversity, open knowledge, and digital public goods.

Compensation

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
