Project Coordinator – Bangalore

About Us

Pratham Books is a not-for-profit children’s publisher with a mission to put a book in every child’s hand. For over two decades, the organization has worked to make high-quality, affordable children’s books available in multiple Indian languages, particularly for children who have the least access to reading materials.

Beyond publishing, Pratham Books works with governments, CSR partners, and civil society organizations to build reading ecosystems at the last mile through print-rich libraries, school and community reading programs, and innovative access models that help children discover the joy of reading in their mother tongue.

Project Coordinator

The Project Coordinator will play an important role in ensuring the successful implementation of Pratham Books’ reading and library programs across schools and communities. These initiatives are implemented in partnership with government departments and CSR partners and aim to create print-rich environments that nurture joyful reading habits among children

The role requires a comfortable professional working across multiple stakeholders—government officials, educators, CSR partners, and field team —while ensuring that program activities are implemented effectively and on schedule.

This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of children’s publishing, education, and large-scale reading initiatives, and contribute directly to strengthening India’s reading culture.

Key Responsibilities

Program Implementation

  • Support the rollout of print-rich libraries and reading initiatives across partner schools and communities.
  • Coordinate the distribution and use of books, library kits, and reading resources.
  • Track program milestones and ensure implementation aligns with project plans and timelines.

Government and CSR Partnerships

  • Liaise with state, district, and block-level government officials to facilitate smooth program implementation.
  • Coordinate with CSR partners and implementation partners on project activities and reporting.
  • Support the organization of project launches, orientations, and review meetings.

Field Monitoring and Implementation Support

  • Conduct periodic field visits to schools and project locations to monitor program implementation and library use.
  • Support teacher orientations and capacity-building sessions related to reading programs.
  • Identify implementation challenges and coordinate with internal teams to address them.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate documentation of program activities, field insights, and implementation progress.
  • Compile periodic reports for internal teams, government departments, and CSR partners.
  • Capture stories of change and learning emerging from the field.

Data and Learning

  • Support the collection and consolidation of program data related to library usage and reading engagement.
  • Contribute to learning and reflection processes that strengthen future program design and scale.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in implementing education, literacy, or library-related programs
  • Experience working with government education systems or CSR-supported projects will be preferred.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong coordination and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Hindi or a regional language is desirable.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in dynamic project environments.
  • Willingness to travel for field visits.

Why This Role Matters

Across many schools and communities in India, children still grow up with limited access to books beyond textbooks. By helping build print-rich libraries and reading programs, this role contributes to creating environments where children can discover the joy of reading, imagination, and learning through stories

At Pratham Books, you will be part of a mission-driven organization working to strengthen India’s reading ecosystem and expand access to children’s literature at scale
