1. Jodo Gyan’s Summer Learning Programme – Delhi
As summer vacations begin every parent has one annually recurring question, how do I keep my child busy…meaningfully busy? What would be more heartening than to see children in company of some good books and some meaningful learning material. In an attempt to provide such options under one roof, we have organised a books cum teaching-learning material fair for children. The fair will have carefully selected more than 1000 titles of children’s books by Indian publishers. Also you will find some interesting and engaging mathematics and science learning materials for children. Besides the books and learning material we will also be organizing few activities for children. The details of the programme are as follows:
Details of the Fair:
– 11 am to 6pm from 14th to 24th of MayDetails of Children’s activities:
– Enrollment of 25 children per day in the age group of 6 to 10 yrs.
– The enrollment will be closed as and when we get 25 children in a batch per day.
– The activity will be conducted from 9 to 11 am daily from 14th to 24th of May.

2. Summer Writing Workshops for Budding Young Writers – Bangalore
Doodles and Scribbles’ is a creative writing workshop for children between 7 to 12 years of age organised by Chillibreeze and will be hosted at the Oxford Bookstore at the Leela Galleria in Bangalore on the 15th of May. With tips and tricks to improve writing skills, fun exercises and creative writing techniques the 3 hour workshop is designed for children who enjoy writing.

3. Fancy Fiction: A Course on Fantasy Story Writing – Kolkata
British Council is organising this 10 hour course with young adults with some prior knowledge of story writing. The course will include a complete session of writing a fantasy story and would take an intensive look at the methods
involved in creating a believable fantasy story.The course will have a series of activities such as
* Thinking like a fantasy story writer and building a fantasy story
vocabulary
* Creating a suitable protagonist, his best friend, the villain and his
sidekick
* Creating a ‘realistic’ ‘imaginary’ setting
* Creating a plot outline
* Weaving all the above points togetherDates and timings

4. Indian Voices : Call for Submissions
PROJECT: Literature can only develop with a continuous flow of new voices. INDIAN VOICES® aims to provide a platform to highlight the diversity of thought and enrich the ever expanding world of Indian writing, whether in India or world–wide.
PROJECT GOAL: To bring to the world’s reading public accessible literature from diverse voices of emerging Indian or Indian-origin writers.
SUBMISSIONS: Short Stories from 1,000 to 2,000 words; poems no more than 2 pages; travelogues from 1,000 to 2,000 words; excerpts from novels from 1,000 to 2,000 words; and excerpts from book-length memoirs from 1000 to 2000 words.
PUBLICATION: The selected entries will be published in October 2010 as a commercial trade book anthology by Fortytwo Bookz Galaxy (www.fortytwobookzgalaxy.com). Fortytwo Bookz Galaxy is, in India’s growing books industry, a prominent publisher, distributor and online retailer through its store www.42bookz.com.
