It has
been 60 years since Mahatma Gandhi passed away, and what better
way to honour him than have a contest where children can think of
happy ways to remember him, or emulate his ways - Gandhigiri, to
be precise. The DHiE - Pratham Books ‘Bapu’ Contest aimed to do
just that.
Students had to choose between two topics: A happy way to remember
Gandhiji or An incident of Gandhigiri you’ve seen around you.
Entries for the two categories - Classes V, VI and VII were grouped
together in one category, and Class VIII and IX the other — poured
in by the dozen. These were then read thoroughly and distilled by
the editorial team at Pratham Books. In the end, ten finalists from
each category were chosen.
Today, Governor Rameshwar Thakur will release Pratham Books’ A
Man Called Bapu by Subhadra Sen Gupta. All the finalists will be
present at the launch.
