  Book launch of “A man called Bapu”, Bangalore
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's martyrdom, Pratham Books brought out a colourful book called 'A Man Called Bapu'. Ms.Rohini Nilekani, Chairperson of Pratham Books, presented the first copy to His Excellency Shri Rameshwar Thakur, Governor of Karnataka, at a function in Bangalore's prestigious Raj Bhavan.
Children read out interesting passages from the book in Kannada and English giving the audience a flavour of the book.
The highlight of the afternoon was the prize distribution by the Governor. Over 300 students from government and private schools participated in a writing contest conducted jointly by Deccan Herald, Akshara Foundation and Pratham Books. All the prize winners, in the English, Kannada and Urdu categories received gifts. All finalists received consolation prizes too.
The Governor spoke about his meetings with Gandhiji during the Quit India movement. Congratulating the Pratham Books team for bringing out a book on Bapuji which was child-centric, he said, "What children like to read is what made the Mahatma do the great things he did." - Click to view Event Pictures
     
     
Book launch of “A man called Bapu”, Delhi

The sonorous strains of "Ram Dhun" were heard at Oxford Bookstore, New
Delhi as Pratham Books released "A Man Called Bapu" at a well attended
event on Jan.29, 2008. Varsha Das, Director, National Gandhi Museum
did the honours after Madhav Chavan, Founder, Pratham, spoke about the
organisation's work with children.

The children from Pratham Delhi put a delightful performance drawing
from the Dandi March and brought out the simplicity and beauty that is
